Press release | January 19, 2022
The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically reduced our social interactions, to the detriment of the most fragile among us, including hospitalized children, for whom the reduction of visits and social contacts has been particularly difficult. Hubside.Store is launching the "Hiver Solidaire" project and donating 315 multimedia devices to the association Les Blouses Roses (231 devices), as well as to the paediatric departments of hospitals in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, each of which receives and cares for between 10 and 300 children.
"Since its creation, Hubside.Store and its employees have been working to promote digital access for all. This donation was a response to the needs of paediatric services to acquire or renew their connected equipment. In these difficult times, we wanted to make a gesture to bring a little lightness to children who are isolated, sometimes without their parents, to allow them to have fun and escape from their heavy daily life, punctuated by care, for the time of a song, a game or a film..." explains Sadri Fegaier, CEO of Hubside.Store.
As part of the operation, Hubside.Store donated a total of 315 multimedia devices, including 304 Ipads, 9 consoles and 2 connected speakers.
These new digital devices were given to regional actors committed to hospitalised children: The Woman-Mother-Child Hospital of the Hospices Civils de Lyon (300 beds), the Drôme Nord Hospitals (15 beds) and the association Les Blouses Roses, whose volunteers from the 8 committees of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region carried out the distribution to the CHU of Mâcon (10 beds), the Couple-Child Hospital of Grenoble (15 beds), and the cardio-paediatric departments of the Groupement Hospitalier Est Lyonnais, Médipôle de Villeurbanne, Médipôle de Bourgoin-Jallieu, Centre Pédiatrique La Maisonnée in Francheville, Institut d'Hématologie et d'Oncologie Pédiatrique de Lyon (120 beds), CHU d'Oyonnax (10 beds), CHU de Clermont-Ferrand (10 beds), CHU de Saint-Étienne (20 beds), CHU de Dijon (40 beds) and CHU de Valence (6 beds).
The first feedback from the "Winter of Solidarity" operation is extremely positive.
"A big thank you for this partnership which, thanks to the tablets and multimedia equipment offered, will bring entertainment and escape to hospitalized children", says Monique Macé, President of the association Les Blouses Roses.
"The children were thrilled to discover Santa's sack full of these great gifts. Hubside.Store wanted to support young patients in hospital during the festive season by giving them 50 iPads, but also by providing the paediatric hospital with 20 iPads free of charge for the care services of the HFME of the Hospices Civils de Lyon", says Amandine Echard, member of the management of the Woman-Mother-Child Hospital.
"A big thank you to this "Hiver Solidaire" operation. Many high-tech gifts were given to the paediatric department of the North Drôme Hospital. In particular, the iPads are used to entertain the youngest patients during their treatment. Similarly, teenagers are delighted to be able to use these iPads during their hospitalisation. As for the Nintendo Switch console, it was an instant hit with the children. It has not had a day's rest since its arrival on the ward. Thanks again to Hubside.Store", the paediatric team of the Hôpitaux Drôme Nord.
The current crisis has brought new challenges to our societies, in particular the digital divide, concerns about social inclusion and the daily difficulties encountered by the most vulnerable. Hubside.Store wishes to accompany these new changes.
About the Hospices Civils de Lyon :
The Hospices Civils de Lyon are 13 public hospitals, all driven by a triple mission: care, research and teaching. Together, we form a community of 24,000 men and women, nurses and non-nursing staff, who share a single vocation: to treat and care for every patient, whatever their situation and pathologies, throughout their lives. From the care and treatment of diseases (from the most benign to the rarest), and in conjunction with all the health care players in the Lyon area, we place research at the heart of our approach in order to respond to the medical advances of today and anticipate the therapeutic challenges of tomorrow. As the 2nd largest university hospital in France, we support and train the medical and non-medical staff of tomorrow through our 11 schools and institutes. The Women-Mother-Children Hospital - HCL, within the Pediatric Specialties
specialities, has 308 beds and places to welcome young patients. It also has a paediatric emergency service with approximately 80,000 visits per year. The HFME is the largest paediatric hospital in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
About the association Les Blouses Roses :
For 76 years, the Blouses Roses have been working with people in hospital, children, adults and the disabled, as well as with elderly people in nursing homes. Present in more than 378 towns, the 5,000 volunteers entertain, comfort, listen and bring joy to the daily routine of care and solitude by offering fun and creative activities. Recognised as a public utility since 1967, the association is known and reputed for the seriousness and quality of its interventions in the care institutions where it is present.
About the Hôpitaux Drôme Nord :
The North Drôme Hospitals occupy two sites, in the communes of Romans-sur-Isère and Saint-Vallier. As the 16th largest hospital in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in terms of the number of stays, they provide first-rate health care in the area they serve, offering quality care in medicine, surgery, obstetrics, follow-up and rehabilitation care, accommodation for the elderly, etc. The opening, in autumn 2019, of the new building, grouping together the activities of the Women and Children's Unit, the operating theatre and the surgery and endoscopy platform, on the Romans-sur-Isère site, meets the needs of the population and gives the establishment a new attractiveness. Designed to promote the well-being and comfort of children, the paediatric department offers 13 full hospitalization beds and emergency paediatric consultations.
Launched in 2020, Hubside.Store is a network of owned and franchised shops, which aims to bring all the experiences of the connected world to life and make technology accessible to all, while following an eco-responsible approach. Hubside.Store has developed a wide range of new and refurbished multimedia products (smartphones, PCs, tablets, TVs, accessories, etc.) and complementary services to manage one's connected life (in-store repair and recycling space, multimedia and urban mobility equipment rental, website creation, multimedia insurance, etc.). In order to control the quality of reconditioned products and the reliability of repairs, the brand has brought its own repair centre in-house in France (Romans-sur-Isère, Drôme), a know-how that it is developing thanks to a hundred or so repair technicians. More than 100 references of refurbished smartphones are offered from among the biggest brands at competitive prices (30 to 40% less than new), guaranteed for 24 months (satisfied or reimbursed, the company refunds the difference if customers find a cheaper product elsewhere). This range of products represents 60% of the network's sales. The network has around one hundred sales outlets in France and Europe (France, Spain, Portugal & Belgium), and plans to reach 500 shops by 2023.
